ris! In addition to spending a summer in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, students will have the opportunity to study France's unique health care system through this MICEFA program.
This program is of particular interest to students interested in pre-med, pre-nursing, public health, health science and social work.
This intensive three-credit, four-week program in June introduces students to medicine and public health in France. Course modules will focus on various aspects of public health practices such as Healthcare Organization in France, Healthcare and Poverty, Women and Children’s Health, Emergency Medicine, Cancer Screening and Treatment, Geriatrics and Elder Care and Nursing and other Medical Specialties. Each module will be complimented with field work and visits to health-related organizations such as médecins du monde, OECD, Pasteur Institut and local hospitals such as Pitié Salpêtrière – France’s oldest and largest hospital in central Paris – and Avicenne Hospital, formerly the Franco-Muslim Hospital, located in an underprivileged Northern suburb of Paris.
This course has been equated as PUBH-3xx and could count as an elective in the Policy, Program Planning, and Evaluation cluster of Public Health electives.
Students will be housed in a dormitory at the Foyer International des Etudiants. You will have accessed to shared kitchen facilties, a lounge, and workroom with internet access, and laundry facilities. Students are responsible for their own meals and small refrigerators are provided in each room at the Foyer.
