Program Description:

Is this Program Right for You?

China as a country is undergoing tremendous change in recent years. It is a place of dynamic contrasts, of rapid industrialization and technological development alongside a beautiful and rich traditional culture.

Nanjing is the capital of Jiangsu province, China, and has a prominent place in Chinese history and culture.  Located in the lower Yangtze River drainage basin and Yangtze River Delta economic zone, Nanjing has always been one of China's most important cities. It served as the capital of China during several historical periods and is recognised as one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China.  With an urban population of over five million, Nanjing is the second largest commercial center in the East China region, after Shanghai.

Nanjing University is one of the top universities in China and boasts advanced teaching and research facilities in three different campuses.  AU students integrate into campus life at Nanjing University and live and take courses directly within the university alongside local students and other international students.

Academic Information

AU students directly enroll at Nanjing University for either a semester or a full year and earn full AU credit.  Students will be taking courses primarily taught entirely in Chinese alongside local Chinese students so the program is intended for AU students with advanced to fluent language abilities.

Presently, NJU comprises 21 schools, 59 departments and other academic units.  Over 12,000 students in 78 undergraduate programs are currently pursuing bachelor`s degrees at NJU. The undergraduate programs strive to achieve balance between depth of knowledge acquired through specialized courses and breadth of knowledge gained through general courses. NJU faculty is very dedicated to teaching, and many fundamental courses are taught by distinguished professors.
