Study Abroad for Sociology Majors
AU Abroad, in consultation with the Sociology Department, offers a selection of programs suited for Sociology Majors. These programs are recommended based on the academic quality of the host institution’s course offerings in your major. In addition to the following programs, students can also explore other options through AU Abroad.
Students can take up to 9 credits of approved courses for the Sociology major/minor when studying abroad. Students must be mindful of when required courses are typically offered and work with the sociology undergraduate advisor on a degree plan. It is recommended that students majoring in sociology study abroad in the spring semester of their sophomore year or fall semester of their junior or senior year.
Sociology is taught within various frameworks in other countries. Courses may be listed and students may receive elective credit (for the major or minor) for approved courses labeled as "anthropology," "social psychology," "cultural studies" or "social science." Below is a selection of highlighted study abroad options.
