Application

Provider deadlines require students to submit all application materials to AU Abroad by February 15 (Summer programs; please note that this is two weeks prior to our Enclave application deadline). Due to the terms of American University's agreement with DIS, AU students are not required to complete a DIS application.

Students interested in attending the Copenhagen program should complete the AU Abroad application on-line and submit the required application materials listed on our Apply page. Upon acceptance, AU Abroad will provide you with a registration packet from DIS that contains important information pertaining to the program in Denmark.

NOTE: In addition to the materials you submit for the AU Abroad Provider application, you must also submit:

***Note to applicants of the HIV/AIDS in Western Europe program: Due to the competitive nature of the program, there are a limited number of spots available. Therefore, you will be asked to write an essay clarifying why you want to participate in the program and how the program is relevant to and enhances your future career. The final decision on whether or not you are accepted into the program will be made by Program Director Agnieszka Danielewicz, DIS, based on an evaluation of your qualifications.

Visa Information

Citizens of the US, Canada, and the European Union do not need a Danish Residence permit or tourist visa to study with DIS' summer programs. You simply enter Denmark with your passport.

All other students may need a tourist visa to enter Denmark for the duration of the DIS summer programs. If you are not a citizen of the US, Canada or the EU, you need to determine if a tourist visa must be obtained as it varies by country of citizenship. Students are responsible for contacting the Danish Embassy to find out which additional documents are needed to obtain the tourist visa.
