Student Life

AustraLearn's program at the University of Queensland (UQ) offers the unique opportunity to study in Brisbane , Australia at the oldest and largest of Queensland 's nine universities. UQ is the State's leading center of higher education as it combines cutting edge research with comprehensive facilities and a sense of tradition that comes with a long established University. With one of the highest numbers of Study Abroad students from around the world of any Australian university, UQ provides an international setting where students can study Australia and how it relates to the rest of the globe. The city of Brisbane is widely known as Australia's most liveable city.  It is Australia's fastest-growing capital with a population of more than 1.7 million people and it offers a safe, friendly, and multicultural environment.

AustraLearn, an Approved AU Abroad Program Provider, provides a variety of top notch services to prepare students for a successful experience abroad. Students are assigned a personal coordinator with whom they will communicate prior to departure. AustraLearn also organizes an orientation in Cairns , Northern Queensland during the first four days in Australia . In addition to meeting other AustraLearn program participants, students visit the Great Barrier Reef and a rain forest habitat where they have a chance to discuss the culture of Australia and its relationship to the overall study abroad experience. Upon arrival at UQ, the Study Abroad Office holds a special two-day orientation that includes a day-trip around Brisbane to familiarize students with the city and covers topics such as academic advising, enrollment, health issues, student support services and other issues related to living and studying in Australia.

Housing

Students have the option of both on-campus and off-campus accommodation at The University of Queensland. There are 10 on-campus residential facilities at the main St. Lucia campus. These buildings feature single study bedrooms with shared bathrooms. Off-campus accommodation can be secured after arrival at the University with the assistance of the University's Accommodation Office.

Excursions

There are several trips and excursions to surrounding areas available to students by a Brisbane adventure tour company. More information can be obtained upon arrival in Brisbane.
