Japan: Waseda University - Academics

Pre-requisites

Applicants to Waseda should have completed at least one semester of Japanese language study.

Though Waseda's campus is in Shinjuku, a hip and bustling part of Tokyo, it is spacious and quiet.

Courses

AU students directly enroll in Waseda University for a full year and earn AU credit. The One-Year Study Abroad Program at Waseda is focused on courses in Japanese Studies and Japanese Language. Students are required to take each semester an intensive Japanese Language course, in addition to optional Japanese Language Elective courses, based on language level. Students will take a Japanese language proficiency exam upon arrival to identify their appropriate level. In addition to the required language course, students select from a wide variety of lecture courses. Students typically take at least 2-3 lecture courses, along with the language course, each semester on the program.
