Learn about New Zealand’s Maori culture when you visit the Maori
Meeting House on Victoria’s campus! |
New Zealand is famous for its beautiful coastlines, jagged mountain ranges, friendly
people, and unique heritage influenced by the native
Maori culture. It is located in the South Pacific about
1,400 miles east of Australia and consists of a few
main islands plus several smaller surrounding islands.
The population is just about 4 million people and contains
a vibrant mix of European, Maori, Polynesian and Asian
cultures.
Learn about this distinct country and study at one
of its leading research and development centers, Victoria
University of Wellington! The University was established
in 1899 and teaches about 18,000 students every year.
The three campuses that make up Victoria University
are all within walking distance of each other and
span Wellington's compact city center. American University
students can study there for a semester or full year,
learn side by side with New Zealanders, and earn credit
towards their AU degree.
