Life in Cape Town

Life at the University residences is a vibrant community. Students living at the Residences are encouraged to partake in extra-mural activities and to be an active participant in the governance of the Residences. Facilities and services are available to help the student create a home from home.

All residences are equipped with a laundry, TV rooms and guest lounges. Recreation halls with pool tables and dart boards are also available at each Residence.

Extra-mural activities are organized annually. Inter Residences sport tournaments, covering various sport codes including soccer, netball volleyball and tennis are organized regularly. A mini Olympics takes place annually during the September holidays. Dance and drama groups are also established. Ballroom dancing is proving to be one of the most popular extra-mural activities.

Support is offered to students by the various Peer Study Groups. The support is offered to students by students. A 24 hour medical emergency service is available to students.

Accommodations and Meals

UWC houses about 2700 students on nine University residences, with eight located on the Campus and one off campus. Occasionally, the University would house students off campus if there is a demand for accommodation. Please visit the UWC website for detailed information on accommodations and meals.
