Visa Information
Students who study at the University of Leiden should
check with the nearest Dutch Consulate to learn about
current visa requirements. Generally U.S. citizens
do not need to apply for student visa before departure.
However you must apply for a residence permit within
eight days after arrival in the Netherlands . You
will likely need documentation from the U.S. for your
residency permit. It is important that you research
the requirements and fees associated with the residence
permit prior to departure. Please also note that the
residency permit is quite expensive and students should
expect to pay several hundred dollars shortly after
arrival. More information can be found here
on Leiden's website.
Costs
