Prerequisites

Two years of college-level Spanish (or the equivalent) are required to attend this program.

Given the Universidad Adolfo Ibañez’s (UAI) accreditation by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the University's main focus is business. American University students will be able to take classes offered as part of UAI's Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) program. AU students may choose from any of the courses within the BBA Curriculum, provided they meet the prerequisites (where applicable). Since UAI operates on a Southern Hemisphere calendar, courses listed in the BBA Curriculum Outline offered during First Semester are taught during AU's Spring term and courses offered in Second Semester are taught in AU's Fall term. The same offering of courses is available at both the Peñalolén (Santiago) and Recreo (Viña del Mar) campus.

For more information from UAI's exchange student website and a list of available subjects click here.

For access to sample syllabi click here.

All courses are taught in Spanish, though there may be complementary readings in English. Teaching methods include lectures, case studies and group work. It is imperative that students actively participate in their classes and meet the minimum attendance requirements for each course. Upon completion of the course, students are graded within the Chilean System. The grade scale goes from 1.0 (lowest) to 7.0 (highest), being 4.0 the minimum grade for approval. AU uses an equivalent grading scale for conversion to the American System.
