Study Abroad in Canada with a North American Scholarship!
Students studying in Canada (and in Mexico) will be
eligible for "North American Scholarships."
AU has recently approved eight North American scholarships
in the amount of $2,500 each - four for study in Canada
and four for study in Mexico. If you are successful
in the North American scholarship competition, you can
study abroad and experience the pleasures of Canada-and
do it for about 20% less tuition (and lower living expenses)
than remaining at home! Details on the application procedure
and selection criteria for North American Scholarships
are available from the AU Abroad office.
Visa Information
Upon acceptance, on-site staff in Canada will provide
students with Study Permit information. US citizens
are required to obtain a Study Permit before arriving
if their period of stay in Canada will be more than
six months. There are benefits of obtaining a Study
Permit for shorter stays, though it is not required.
For example, students with Study Permits may be able
to work part-time on campus, and they can apply to renew
the Study Permit from within Canada, if they decide
to continue studying in Canada for another semester.
Students without Study Permits who decide to stay for
an additional semester must leave Canada in order to
apply.
Non-US citizens should check with the Canadian Embassy
for specific Visa/Study Permit requirements.
All students are responsible for contacting the Canadian
Embassy or Consulate to find out what documents
are needed to obtain the Study Permit.
