Carleton is widely recognized as one of the top universities in Canada. Centrally located in the Canadian capital, it draws 18,000 students to its wide range of course offerings. Carleton is especially well known for its expertise in public affairs, public management, and international relations.

Students studying at Carleton for a semester or academic year should expect to be part of a close group of students and scholars nestled upon the banks of the Rideau Canal. Despite occasional sharp differences, the American and Canadian governments have forged, over time, a strong cooperative relationship on most foreign policy issues.
