The beauty of Rome!

Housing & Meals

To help you get a more authentic feel for local culture and lifestyle, AUR provides students with typical Italian-style furnished apartments in the neighborhoods surrounding our campus.  In this setting, alongside Italian neighbors, students live "the Italian way", not only better integrating into the community and sharing the experience of daily Roman life, but also having the invaluable opportunity to truly act as ambassadors from their own home countries.

AUR places students in furnished apartments within areas of Rome convenient to the university campus: Trastevere, Monteverde, Colli Portuense and Giancolense. These apartments are generally assigned with 4-6 students living in 2-3 bedrooms. All apartments have kitchen facilities, are non-smoking and single-sex. All apartments are in close proximity to public transportation. Students should expect around a 30 min commute to AUR.

While living in Rome, you can cook meals in your apartment's kitchen facilities or enjoy the cuisine served at Rome's many cafés and restaurants. There is no meals included in this program, but no worries, you won't go hungry in Rome!

Student Life

The American University of Rome has an active Student Life Office. They strive to complement the academics by providing and supporting opportunities for learning through extra-curricular activities. The office assists with non-academic issues, encourages student participation in Italian culture and daily life and supports student social life both on and off campus. There are several clubs and organizations on campus where students can get involved on campus. The Student Life Office also arranges the travel plans for field trips and events in conjunction with the academic departments.
