Application
This program is open to American University students
ONLY. Non-AU students should apply directly though
American University of Rome.
Only students majoring or minoring in Communications,
Art History, Italian Language,
Italian studies and the Classics
are allowed to apply to study at American University
of Rome.
Please see our Apply
page for application requirements and materials. In
addition to the materials you submit for the AU Abroad
application, you must also submit:
- A letter of recommendation from an AU professor
- One passport-sized photo
Visa Information
Upon acceptance, AUR and AU Abroad staff will provide
students with letters to obtain their Student Visa.
Students are responsible for contacting the Italian
Consulate to find out which additional documents
are needed to obtain a student visa.
After obtaining a student visa, all students without
Italian Citizenship must also obtain a "Permit
to Stay" with the assistance of Platform 3000.
There is a $200 fee for the Permit to Stay.
