Yemen: Summer Arabic Language Immersion (YCMES) - Partner - Student Life

The dormitories at YCMES are simple, but colorful!

Life in Sana'a

The Old City of Sana'a, Shibam in Hadhramout, and Zabid in the Tihama are all UNESCO World Heritage cities, preserving their extraordinary architecture for the enjoyment of citizens and visitors alike. Dramatic mountain terraces in the northern and central portions of the country, verdant wadis in the south, desert sand dunes in the east, and warm seas with rich aquatic life: these contrasts hint at the ecological and geographical diversity of the country and its natural charms. Housing

Students will live in one of the YLC dormitories located within walking distance of the main center. Each YLC housing facility is equipped with a European washing machine, satellite television, and VCR located in a student common area. Bedrooms are furnished with a telephone extension for student convenience. All local and international calls can be received free of charge, however students will be charged for outgoing calls. Internet access is available 24 hours a day and in our main building and guest house, a wireless connection has been installed for those students with laptops. Sheets, blankets and towels are all provided by the YLC for the duration of your stay. For more information about the housing at YCMES, click here.

Students are entitled to housing one day prior to and one day after the conclusion of study. Additional periods of stay may be arranged at a cost per night subject to availability. Students may request a single room as available.

Cultural Activities
While studying at the Yemen Language Center, students are immersed in Yemeni culture in the form of field trips, lectures, visits to hammams and museums, weddings, and more, most included in their tuition. Also, the student will inevitably be welcomed into the homes of countless Yemeni families as a part of the Arab hospitality.
