Climbing the Great Wall!

Pre-requisites
Students must have completed two semesters of Chinese language prior to the program.

This six credit immersion program is a student-centered program, which has an integrated curriculum, providing students with the chance to learn much more than just the fundamentals of the Chinese language. Students learn how to interact with Chinese people in both casual and formal situations.

This program is designed for students with an intermediate to advanced intermediate-level of Chinese language ability. Classes focus on basic vocabulary, grammar, sentence structures, and simple texts. Participants will be taught both Chinese pinyin and character systems.

Designed to focus on developing spoken Chinese and fluency, the intensive program consists of 5 hours of class per day during the week. Oral exercises and drills ensure that participants learn the correct pronunciation. There are also various language activities to help participants to internalize everyday expressions and sentence patterns.

Chinese Language II
(6 credit hours)
The purpose of the intermediate level class is to help students increase reading comprehension as well as oral proficiency in Mandarin. After this class, students will be able to independently learn Chinese on their own and will be prepared to take an advanced language training course. There are three sub-levels within this course to acccommodate different skill levels.

Chinese Language III
(6 credit hours)
Advanced level class following largely the same structure as the beginner and intermediate classes.
