Toronto is affectionately known to Canadians as "the city of imagination." As the most diverse city in Canada, Toronto has a wide range of activities to offer visitors in the area of culture, entertainment, and the arts. The word “Toronto”, is adequately the Huron Indian word for "meeting place", as the metropolitan city of 2.5 million people is home to more than 100 cultures. Toronto is the southern most major city in Canada, and provides a clean and safe environment for business, industry, and the arts, with the charm and energy of a large metropolis. AU students can spend a semester or academic year at one of three campuses of the University of Toronto.

Academics

The full range of the curriculum at the University of Toronto is available to students with few exceptions. The University of Toronto is a multi-campus university, and students are assigned to the campus where the courses they apply for are housed.  The College of Arts and Sciences is located at the St. George Campus in downtown Toronto, and most students elect to study there. 

A typical load for degree seeking students is four courses for twelve credits which will be arranged automatically upon acceptance.  Students may take an additional course for a total of fifteen credits upon arrival.  Course selection and approval takes place as a part of the application process, so students can be assured on what courses will be available before arrival on site.

Student Life

For students placed at the St. George campus, there are several on-campus housing options, which are arranged by the University of Toronto, or off-campus options, which the student can arrange directly. Students placed at Scarborough or Missasauga will receive housing information upon acceptance. 

Students are also able to make independent housing arrangements on their own.  In all cases students will pay for housing directly.

Students may elect to partake of all student service and campus activities, and are encouraged to become fully engaged in student life. 

Please note that students are required to participate in the health insurance plan provided by the University.  Information and payment application are included in the acceptance.
