Pre-departure Information
How can I make sure that my child grants me access to
important on-line program information?
Technically, AU Abroad participants are adults (even
though they'll always be your children), so we cannot
force them to share their password to the AU Abroad
site. Privacy laws prevent us from sharing information
about your child with you unless they complete the
"Parent/Guardian Disclosure" form on their
pre-departure portal. General information on predeparture
and some program specific information is publicly
available on our Web site.
Where can I find information on safety precautions
for AU Abroad Programs and Partners?
Please refer to our Safety and Health
section of our website.

During the Course of the AU Abroad Program
My child recently left for his/her program.
How can I found out if he/she arrived?
Encourage your adult child to contact you him/herself
immediately upon arrival. Establish a communication
plan prior to your child's departure. Emergency
and Arrival contact information is available for
each program on the student's pre-depature portal.
Make sure your child leaves a copy of this information
for you.
I desperately need to contact my child. What are
the emergency phone numbers for their program?
On the pre-departure checklist, each student is
provided with the Emergency Contact Card for their
Program. If your child has not provided you with
a copy of this document, please contact
AU Abroad for information. Partner institutions
generally provide students with important numbers
and addresses for the main international student
contacts at the host university. Please should also
consult the Partner institution's website or pre-departure
documents for this information.
