Please note, the application deadline
for the Spring program is OCTOBER 1st (this is two-weeks
prior to the typical AU Abroad deadline of October
15th).
***ADDITIONAL APPLICATION REQUIREMENT - All students
applying to the Prague program must now also submit
a photocopy of the bio/photo page of their passport.
In addition, Film Production applicants may want,
or are required, to submit a portfolio of work along
with the other application materials to AU Abroad.
Guidelines for portfolio submissions are as follows:
Film Production Level 2
- Portfolio should be a sample of clips or a longer piece,
with a total running time of no more than 20 minutes.
- There should be a clear statement with the portfolio
indicating what roles the student performed on the film(s)
included in the portfolio (director, cinematographer, scriptwriter,
editor)
- Portfolio is preferred on DVD but can also be on VHS
Film Production Level 1
- No portfolio is required for Level I, although
a student may submit one if they have not had a
basic photography or film production course, but
want to be considered for the program.
*Please note: Portfolios cannot be sent back to applicant.
Applications and portfolios will be reviewed by AU
Abroad and American University’s School of Communications
after the application deadline. Students will be informed
of acceptance decisions as soon as possible, however,
please allow 1-2 weeks for the review process.
Visa Information
Upon acceptance, AU Abroad staff will provide Film
Production students with a letter to obtain their
Student Visa. Film Production students are responsible
for contacting the appropriate Czech Embassy or Consulate
to find out what additional documents are needed to
obtain a student visa.
