A beautiful view of Prague.

Through the AU Abroad Prague Film Production Enclave
Program, administered in conjunction with the AU School
of Communications, students have the opportunity to
study in one of the most dynamic and compelling cities
in Europe. Under the program, students gain the tremendous
opportunity to study at the world-renowned FAMU film
school in downtown Prague. Students earn a full semester
of AU credit in classes taught in English.
You are sure to find inspiration in the architectural
and historic delights of this 1,000 year-old golden
city - a city known to be one of the most beautiful
in the world. Built on seven hills and spanning the
winding Vltava River, Prague offers enchanting views
from all of its districts, from Hradcany, the castle
district with its palaces, museums, and churches to
"New Town," Nove Mesto, which was founded
in the mid-1300s and now houses many museums, theatres,
and concert halls.
Established in 1991, in cooperation with the School
of Communciation at American University, FAMU celebrates
over 60 years as one of Europe’s oldest and
finest Film Academies. The continued success of FAMU’s
academic programs are based on the Mentor-Apprenticeship
system, where the students learn from the masters
in a Conservatory-style environment.
Located in a cultural landmark, the Lazansky Palace,
in the center of Prague, FAMU has played an integral
role in Czech cultural history for the last 60 years,
fostering the New Wave of the 60s, and serving as
a headquarters for the student-led Velvet Revolution
that concluded the Cold War.
