Work in the heart of international
development with various organizations throughout
Nairobi |
Nairobi Enclave Internship
(3 credit hours)
At least 150 hours during the semseter will be
volunteered to the organization that the Country Director,
the student, and the organization's representative
agree upon. Placements are widely varied and can be
assigned by the Country Director or agreed upon by
all parties involved from individual student interest
and research before the beginning of the semester.
All internships are within Nairobi and are supervised
by the Country Director. A substantial analysis of
the volunteer experience is required in paper form.

Now Kenya: Microfinance interviews, site visits
to small businesses and microfinance groups, grant
proposal writing
Big Ideas Entertainment:
Research, logistics and other production work for
current and future films, grant proposal writing

for Domestic Training and Development: Community
Outreach, cooking classes, donor identification, web
design, and grant proposal writing
International Rescue
Committee: Newsletter design and output, program
research, grant proposal writing
Johari:
Development Design for fashion and business plans,
point person for business women and design house,
grant proposal writing

Toto: Home based health care for HIV+ children
and their families, health clinic maintenance, grant
proposal writing
Love Shack
Kenya: Liaison with local primary school and food
donor, feeding programs, grant writing
Mama Fatuma's
Children's Home: Teaching and playing with children,
upkeep of medical and educational records, donor identification,
grant proposal writing
Mama Mikes:
Product identification and market research, blog submission,
grant proposal writing
Rainmaker Limited:
Promotion and pubilicity for hit musical to go international,
community outreach, grant proposal writing
St. Vincent De Paul Community Development Organization:
School and Rescue Centre: Assist with classroom instruction
for preschool students affected by HIV/AIDS, site
visits to homes of children, donor identification,
grant research and writing
Sarakasi Trust:
Public awareness, site visits, grant research and
writing
Shangilia: Teaching
assistant, site visits to potential performance venues,
grant proposal writing
Up To You Too
: Research Nairobi organizations for a database
of micro finance, education, and music resources and
training for youth in the slums, and write grant and
business proposals
Kwani: Assist
in preparations for the
Lit Fest in August and work with well known African
authors and staff on building capacity in the organization,
along with writing a grant proposal.
Amani: Grant
proposal writing to expand program activities to Burundi
and Rwanda, working on social outreach.
