Housing
Full language integration happens
in the home, as well as the classroom. During your
participation in the Madrid & the Mediterranean
program, you live in a Spanish home. Your homestay
allows you to experience the warmth and hospitality
of Spain while improving your language skills.
In the homestay, students enjoy breakfast, lunch,
evening meals and, in most cases, weekly laundry.
Students may be in single or double rooms. Students
commute approx. 30 min from their homestays to the
program offices in the center of Madrid. Once you
have completed AU Abroad on-line pre-departure forms,
an on-site Housing Coordinator will organize your
living arrangements before you arrive. During program
excursions, students stay in pensions and hotels.
Meals
Students enjoy two meals a day
with their host families. One meal a day is usually
provided during the study trips.
Schedule
The Multi-country: Madrid &
the Mediterranean Enclave takes place every Fall
semester.
Fall 2008
Arrival*: August 30, 2008 (Saturday)
Departure**: December 7, 2008 (Sunday)
* The "Arrival" date
is the day on which you need to arrive at your site,
NOT the date you leave the U.S.
The program starts on the "Arrival" date
and this is the day on which program-sponsored housing
begins. If you arrive before this date, you are responsible
for your own housing. Do not expect to move into program-sponsored
housing early.
** The "Departure" date
is the official end of the program. All program-related
activities will end the night prior to this date (in
some cases you may have a farewell dinner, etc.) On
the "Departure" day you must leave your
housing. Do not expect to stay in program-sponsored
housing after the "Departure" date.
Program Dates are subject to change.
