Internship
(6 credit hours; required)
Impress future employers with professional experience
gained in London! The Internship experience is a central part of the London
Enclave program and is a requirement for students. Based on your academic
interests and career goals, students will be placed in an internship connected to the general fields of either politics, the media, or the arts. Throughout the semester,
students assess their work experiences as they unfold, including the cultural
differences between the British and American workplace that you may encounter.
Students are expected to submit a written report on their internship experience
at the end of the semester.
The Internship provides students an excellent opportunity to obtain work experience in a student's area of interest and explore the professional aspect of another culture. Upon acceptance to the program, students provide information information on their background, experience and areas of interest for an internship placement. With this information, onsite staff work to provide an internship placement that fits as closely as possible to the student's stated interests and background. Although an internship is a guaranteed element of the program, students must have some flexibility in the type of internship placement received; no guarantees can be provided for a specific kind of internship.
Details on a student's potential internship placement are provided during the first part of the semester in London. In the first part of the semester, students will have an orientation, meet for intensive course work and have internship interviews. In the second part of the semester, upon finalizing the internship placement after the interview, students will then intern during normal working hours for most of the week and continue to take classes for the remainder of the week.
