Program Director Carole Cummings (kneeling,

women in Temuco, Chile
|
During orientation, students participate in tours of
the city, the university, and local attractions, including
a visit to Valparaiso, the famous port town of Isabel
Allende's novel. In addition, students will participate
in an academic site visit to the far reaches of Chile.
In the past academic field trips have included travel
to the northern part of Chile where they have an opportunity
to discover the indigenous Aymara culture of the Atacama
Desert, the remote and mysterious culture of Easter
Island, or the wildlife and virgin forests of Patagonia.
Students also explore the richness of Chilean life and
culture on their own.
